HOUSTON AREA COMPANY GETS $300,000 IN STATE AID TO BUILD FACILITY IN CUERO SIPCO Mechanical Linkage Solutions will produce high-precision components for power transmission. A Houston area company that manufactures equipment for both the traditional energy and the renewables sector today received a $300,000 boost from the Texas Enterprise Fund for its planned facility in Cuero that will employ up to 100 people.
Gov. Rick Perry traveled to Cuero to formally announce the investment in SIPCO Mechanical Linkage Solutions, which plans to have the facility up and running by year’s end.
Eduardo Ervesun, the company’s director of operations, said the new plant will manufacture high-precision gear products for motion control and power transmission equipment that will serve companies specializing in solar, wind, biomass generation as well as fossil fuel generation.
“Right now, we are in the process of locating a site in Cuero, and our plan is to be up and running later this year,” Ervesun told the Texas Energy Report. He said the company might purchase an existing building that could be retrofitted to meet its manufacturing needs or to acquire land and build its own facility.
SIPCO chief Raul Martinez said the town of Cuero, which is about 100 miles east of San Antonio and has a population of about 6,500, was able to offer the company “a wealth of resources essential in attaining our goals of providing customers with a quality stream of supply.”
The town’s mayor said the new jobs are a welcome addition, and added that the state aid was crucial to sealing the deal. “The city of Cuero welcomes SIPCO-MLS and their expansion to our community,” Cuero Mayor Randy Saenz said. “By utilizing programs such as the Texas Enterprise Fund we were able to assist SIPCO-MLS in expanding their operations in Texas.” SIPCO, located in the Houston suburb of Webster, says on its Web site that it specializes in the production of high-precision gear products used in power transmission equipment and hydraulic systems. In addition to the energy sector, the company’s products are used in robotics, packaging, printing, energy and material handling.
